O Adonai et Dux domus Israel,
qui Moysi in igne flammae rubi apparuisti,
et ei in Sina legem dedisti:
veni ad redimendum nos in brachio extento.
O Adonai and leader of the house of Israel,
who appeared to Moses in the flame of the burning bush
and gave him the law on Sinai:
come to redeem us with an outstretched arm.
“Say therefore to the people of Israel, ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment.’” Exodus 6:6
"For the Lord is our judge; the Lord is our lawgiver; the Lord is our king; he will save us." Isaiah 33:22
Veni, veni, Adonai,
qui populo in Sinai
legem dedisti vertice,
in maiestate gloriae.
O come, O come, Thou Lord of might,
Who to Thy tribes on Sinai's height
In ancient times didst give the law
In cloud and majesty and awe.
